Today is May 13, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. This is your invitation to take one step forward every day in your relationship with Christ. We invite you to do something unbelievably radical. We invite you to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Jesus
Yesterday was work around the house day… all day. Wayne showed up about 7:30 in the morning and soon both of us were out back. For most of the day, Wayne climbed my walnut tree and cut it down. Everything went as planned except for one cut. It dropped on the neighbor’s fence and took out quite a bit of it. Now I need to think about what to do about replacement. But what a relief to have the tree down! It was in such bad condition, it could have fallen on the neighbor’s house in a windstorm. After we got the tree down and cleaned up, I mowed the lawn. That just about did me in. And later in the day I did finances. Believe it or not, once I finished that it was bed time! I put a picture of ale and Mike in the new Kitchen Pantry where they were working on shelves on the blog at timewithgod.mypodcast.com.
This week’s theme verse is Romans 1:19-20. What may be known about God is plain enough, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
A Russian Czar once asked his court theologian for a proof that God exists… he gave this answer, “Your Jew, your Jew, your hated Jew.” An atheist was once asked what he would say to God when he died and discovered indeed that God exists. He said, I would say, “Why did you hide yourself so well?” God has not hidden himself. Only those who wish to be blind close their eyes to the evidence. We don’t need to look any further than the Jew, a unique people with a miraculous background. Show me any other people that have been scattered to every nation under the face of the earth who have been able to maintain their distinct religious and ethnic background and then return to their homeland after a hundred or a thousand years to reclaim their heritage. There are no other nations like this. But Israel has done it three different times. Once in 1948 after being dispersed to every nation under the face of the earth nearly 2000 years before; once at @ 500 BC after being dispersed by the Babylonians 80 years and the Assyrians 200 years before that; and once under Moses leadership when they came out of Egypt where they had lived as slaves for over 400 years. In each case powerful men tried to destroy the Jew and failed. Pharaoh did his best to enslave them, kill their children and finally he called on his entire army to march against these unarmed nomads. He lost. God delivered them in the most amazing way at the crossing of the Red Sea. Haaman tried to annihilate the Jew. He set a day and sent out an edict that on that day every Jew was to be eradicated. But God delivered them using Queen Esther. Hitler did his best to rid the earth of the Jew in the ovens of Auswitch and other concentration camps. But out of that dark day the modern nation of Israel was born in a miraculous way. Why do so many people have such an irrational hatred for the Jew? Could it be that there is a real spiritual battle going on and that God has revealed himself to the world through the Jew? Think about this: Each of these returns to the land was prophetically foretold hundreds of years in advance which leads us to a second amazing fact about the Jew. God chose a shabby, disorganized, insignificant group of people to pass on the “Oracles of God” to the nations. The Bible, God’s revelation, came through the Jewish prophets. The amazing thing about the Bible is that it is historically accurate, archaeologically true, and scientifically correct in all its statements. It is God’s revelation… God revealed Himself to us through the prophets. God has made Himself plain to us. You just have to read the book!
Dear Father, thank you for revealing yourself to us in history and in your Word. Thank you that we are not left in the dark to fend for ourselves, but you have loved us so much that you sent your own son to reveal the Father. Lord we are blessed to have the truth. Since we have it, may we apply it to our lives!

Today is May 12, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. Together we are strong. As we walk though the word together we help each other grow.
Mother’s day is over. How was your Mom’s day off? We had some really nice services at church. A few good messages on Honoring Mother, a great breakfast, and some quality time with Susan and the Grand kids… who spent the evening with us. Shaphen stopped over for a few hours. Evie brought her mom by a nice little flower. I called my mom and wished her a happy mothers day. Then she talked to Susan for quite a while. I put a picture of the work Bill is doing on the handicapped parking on the blog at timewithgod.mypodcast.com. Susan is almost over the flu! And am I ever glad. And just a quick note about Saturday’s Time With God podcast… I’m having more computer problems. I didn’t get it all recorded Saturday. I have yet to see how my finicky computer will act today… I’m praying!
This week’s theme verse is Romans 1:19-20. What may be known about God is plain enough, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
How do we know that God exists? I’ve never seen him with my eyes. No one I’ve ever met has seen him. If seeing were the only criterion for proof of life, I would guess that most of the 6.7 billion people on the earth don’t exist… I’ve never seen most of them personally and never will. But, you may object, to verify the existence of these people, all you would have to do is get out there and meet them, “Hi! I’m Dennis and I’m here to verify that you exist.” “Well Hi back to you! I’m (anyman or woman) and I don’t need you to verify I exist. I exist whether you agree with it or not! And another thing: I don’t care whether YOU exist!” The only people who really care whether everyone exists are tax collectors and bean counters. So let’s say that I have a space ship that can travel the entire universe in an attempt to discover God. If he’s out there I’m going to find him. I’m on a mission for man. The universe is so vast that I can’t be sure I haven’t missed him somewhere, somehow, sometime. There’s bound to be some corner of the universe I haven’t checked out, some small planet or office building on the third floor I haven’t discovered yet, where God is holed up. But wait, hold that thought, because trying to find God in our universe is sort of like an ant trying to find the creator of the ant farm in the terrarium itself! “Have any of you ants seen the ant farm guy anywhere in here?” The guy with the big bug eyes staring in from the outside is the creator, but how’s an ant to know? God the creator is also outside of his creation. He’s not part of the ant farm. Any ant that tries to verify the existence of the ant farm guy by traveling to the outer reaches of the terrarium is going to be sadly disappointed. And yet all he has to do is look outside the box and (providing the ant farm guy is as interested in them as God is in us) there he is! Now here is the interesting thing, of all the 6.7 billion people on earth, only about ½ a million people don’t believe there is a God! And if they were honest they DO believe there is a God, and they are him (so they think). Since God is such a universal phenomenon, is that not an odd coincidence? If God is as universal as, say, gravity or oxygen, maybe some people are wasting their time trying to prove the world is flat. God exists… that’ plain enough for everyone to see! Apparently.
Dear Creator God. I believe in You. I know there is so much evidence for your existence that I’d be a fool not to believe. Thank you for caring that I exist! Thank you for finding this small blue planet to send your Son to die for my sins, that I might know you in a very real and personal way. I love you. I know you love me!

Genesis 47: 13-31; Psalm 7
Today is May 10, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. TWG is a covenant to seek the LORD God with all our heart and with all our soul. If you seek Him, He will be found by you.
Today is Saturday. It’s 6:30 in the morning. My Grand daughter Esther just poked her head out of the bedroom. It’s not time to get up yet! I need another hour of quiet! All 4 of them spent the night last night. Yesterday I worked all day on the Mother’s day message “Honor Your Mother.” I also made sure power point was ready for our song service. Bill was there for quite a while working on the handicapped parking. Jim stopped in, and then Jim Pynch drove up. We took off to his place where he gave us some wool that he thought might be good for sound deadening in the new building. Susan is going to try to make a sample from it. I put a picture of the three of them looking at the wool on the blog at timewithgod.mypodcast.com. Last night I came home to the grand kids. That was nice. Susan was sick all evening with the flu. We’ll see how well she is doing this morning. Jeannie wrote me a note… We enjoyed listening to Time with God while we ate breakfast this morning. Thanks! That must take a lot of your time to do that every day. We really do both appreciate you very much.
This week’s theme verse is Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Put on the full armor of God. We are doing a review of each piece of your armor to capture the essence of how to put it on. With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. Today we want to do a final review of each piece and how it can defeat the enemy’s attacks.
#1. Put on the “Belt Of Truth.” It will defend against Deception – To believe a lie – TRUTH is the belt that holds life together. “I choose truth! I commit myself as a seeker of God’s Word so I can discern the difference between truth and error.”
#2 Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness. It will defend against Temptation. “By faith I pledge to do my best to become just like Jesus… by faith.”
#3. Put on the “Combat Boots of the Gospel of Peace.” It will defend against anxiety, fear and depression. “I pledge to believe and announce the Gospel of Peace to all who will hear.”
#4. Take up The shield of Faith. It will defend against doubt and insecurity. “I will be faithful. I choose to believe God even in the deepest agony of battle.”
#5. Put on the Helmet of Salvation. It will defend against the frontal attack of evil circumstances and death. “I trust Your salvation to give me boldness in life and in death. My salvation is settled in heaven.”
#6. Take up the sword of the Spirit. It will defend against distraction. no time for God? No defense. “I take oh, sword the Word of God for my defense! To spend Time With God.”
#7. Take your orders in Prayer. It will defend against confusion and disobedience. “I pray that I may be faithful in carrying out Your commands. I’ll seek your guidance and protection in prayer”
If you will put on the full armor of God and keep it on you will be protected. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor.
Dear Lord. Today I put on the full Armor of God. I choose to believe and seek your truth! I pledge to do my best to become just like Jesus… by faith. I will seek to announce the Gospel of Peace to all who will hear. I will be faithful even in the deepest agony of battle. I trust you in life and in death to save me. I will spend Time With your Word and Time with You in prayer. Give me your orders and I will obey.

Genesis 47:1-12; Psalm 6; Matthew 13:1-30
Today is May 9, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. TWG is a complete turn of events, it is a 180 degree turn around. God is changing us and turning us around as a community. This is not business as usual, this is transforming, this is spiritual, this is essential.
Sometimes I surprise myself by getting my work done on time. I think I got most of it done yesterday! That’s unusual. I must have missed something. I got the bulletin finished. Uploaded several podcasts to the internet. Prepared power point announcements for Sunday and began working on this Sunday’s message… called… oops – I just realized it’s mother’s day Sunday, I have to come up with a different message! Change gears! Rewrite! At least I have a head start on next week! Bill stopped in. He spent considerable time using the backhoe to get our handicapped parking ready. He’s looking for help this Saturday. Mike and Dale were in the new Kitchen finishing up the shelves. Boy do they look great. Dale helped me pick up flowers at Bobs. Bob and I had a great talk about skiing and some good old times. Ken came by to talk about his job. It is going well. The grand kids came in for their daily fix of candy. I love it! And their dentist is going to love it too! And a gal stopped in looking for the Hohn Cemetery on Buckhorn Road. I had no idea there was one. Last evening after work, Shaphen and I went and played tennis… surprisingly he beat me 6 to 2. That was a shock. I’ll get him next time. Then Susan and I spent a quiet evening together . I put an interesting picture of Rochelle, Susan and Marcia working on the storage area on the blog at www.timewithgod.mypodcast.com.

With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. #6. You grasp the sword of the Spirit. Your Sword. It is your best friend, kept close at all times. You admire the shining short blade. It is beautiful, decorative and effective. The scabbard is also ornamentally decorated with gold and silver engravings of the imperial army of God and it’s King and God, “THE WORD!” Etched beautifully on the sharp edging of the blade is the saying, “SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, QUICK AND POWERFUL.” You slide it quickly into the scabbard with a metallic ring. The spirit of the legionnaires fills your spirit, “I take o, sword the Word of God for my defense! I strike and thrust with every verse as truth that cuts and convicts the heart. I memorize it’s every form and fact to be well versed in the art of war.” #7. Finally, you report to the cohort for orders in Prayer. With every piece of armor in place, you are now ready for battle. You just need to know what your assignment is. You open the door, step into place among the ranks and stand at attention before the Centurion while slapping out a quick salute. You bend one knee and bow your head, “Sir, what orders does my Lord wish for me today? I am at your service.” Silently you listen for guidance and direction. Once given, you snap another smart salute, “Thank you my Lord. I pray that I may be faithful in carrying out Your commands and pledge myself to the protection of Your Kingdom and my fellow legionnaires.” You pivot and turn to go… realizing that Your Lord has committed heavy and important responsibilities for you to carry out. It feels like the Kingdom stands or falls on your faithfulness. As long as you follow orders in unison with the rest of the legion, you are more likely to be protected. If you ignore those orders and wander off on your own, you are vulnerable. As you walk lockstep with your brothers in prayer, you feel invincible. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor. So long as you have it on, you’re protected.
Dear Lord. I take o, sword the Word of God for my defense! I strike and thrust with every verse as truth that cuts and convicts the heart. I memorize it’s every form and fact to be well versed in the art of war. What orders do you have for me today? I am at your service. I pray that I may be faithful in carrying out Your every commands and pledge myself to love Your Kingdom and my brothers in the Lord. Thank you for being my Lord.

Today is May 8, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. We are doing something of eternal significance. We are redeeming the time. That is one of the basic premises of TWG. We believe that what we do every day is so important that we must do the important things each day. That is why we read the word every Day
Happy Birthday Chris! Chris is one of our TWG subscribers! Yesterday was busy and productive. I posted a new radio podcast to the internet and got Discovery Class III done. Rochelle, Marcia and Susan stopped in for several hours to clean the upstairs storage room and plan VBS! Thanks ladies it looks great. I turned the water on down at the amphitheater at noon. A few paramedics showed up in the front parking lot soon after that! Fortunately they were just there to perform CPR on our fire hydrant! Evie called at 3 PM to ask me “did I still have the water on down at the Amphitheater?” Forgetfulness is bad! I quickly ran down to turn it off. Then after work Susan and I went to our Growth Group Pot Luck. We had a great time, and the food was good. Jeannie said that now that she has high speed internet she has begun listening to TWG! Welcome. I put a picture of Samantha, who came with grandma Cathy and Grandpa Wayne to our potluck on the blog at www.timewithgod.mypodcast.com. It is a cute picture of her!

With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. #5. You pick up the Helmet to put it on. This is one thing you don’t ever want to forget. The outer shell is made of the strongest Iron to withstand a killing blow, but the inside is padded softly with leather for a good fit. Before you put it on, you admire its sturdy craftsmanship. Behind the head is a metal bill to protect the neck and it has two hinged side pieces to guard the cheeks. On the top is a beautiful flowing decorative red plume. Emblazoned on the front are these words, “Deus Salus” or God Save! You proudly put it on. Wearing the legionnaires plume in public is a matter of status and pride, but it is more than that, with it you are well protected for life and eternity. Without realizing it you mouth the implications out loud, “This helmet will save my life many times over. I place it on my head and trust Your salvation to give me boldness in life and in death. I have complete confidence in God my savior. My salvation is settled in heaven.” As you put your helmet on, you feel invincible. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor. So long as you have it on, you’re protected.

Today is May 7, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. You are part of a devotional community where we put Christ first and our commitment is to spend time with each other and Time with God every day.
A little variety in life never hurts. I only have a limited attention span, so a few changes to the routine are good. I’ve begun watering the amphitheater now… I enjoy watching the grass grow… and praying that it will grow. Then while I was at work, a neighbor, Sharon stopped in to ask if I would help move a canopy. I met Rand and Christina at her place and we moved it! Later Bill and Mike stopped in at church to work… I love it when stuff like that happens. Mike was putting in kitchen shelves. Bill was working on the sidewalk form preparation. I went outside and helped him for about a half an hour. Then last night I went home where I had a long discussion with Shaphen on the nature and character of God. When we try to reason from experience about who God is we can easily come up with a skewed viewpoint. That’s why we need to allow God to explain his character Himself… from the Word. Then last night Susan and I went out to our 30th anniversary dinner and went to see the movie Expelled, a documentary about the Creation, Evolution debate. A must see. A little slow at first, but it gets pretty intense in the middle. No wonder the establishment is hopping mad! I think Ben Stein is going to be Expelled from the establishment if he is not already! I put a picture of Bill, Mike and Rich working on the sidewalk at church on the blog at www.timewithgod.mypodcast.com. It takes three Pine Grovians to drive one nail!

With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. #3. Put on the “Combat Boots of the Gospel of Peace.” Sitting in the Legionnaires dressing room, you lean over to strap on the leather boot sandals called caligae. Just for a test you tap the sharp point of one of the hobnails protruding from the bottom. Ouch! It is sharp! And it drew blood! You won’t do that again! Then you notice an imprint in the leather around the sole of your shoe “The Gospel of Peace!” Those nails will surely remind you that the gospel cuts two ways! Peace to all who receive it and sorrow for all who reject it. As you wrap the leather thongs firmly around your ankle and tie them off, you repeat those old words, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news. I pledge to announce the Gospel of Peace to all who will hear. May it bring faith and hope wherever I wander.” #4. The shield of Faith. Leaning against the wall is your shield. The leather and canvas stretched over a rectangular wooden and metal frame makes it light and stalwart. As a grizzled veteran you have an endless supply of stories of how the shield has saved your life. Flaming arrows may find their mark but they are extinguished quickly by the leather covering. The polished metal “boss” In the center of the shield has more than once deflected a killing blow. Painted on the field in blood red is your ensign. It is a design who’s meaning every legionnaire knows: “Semper Fidelis” or Always Faithful. “Faithful friend,” you murmur as you run your hand across the smooth face of your shield, “I too will be faithful. I choose to believe God has my best interest even in the deepest agony of battle. I will trust in you… Semper Fidelis!” As you heft your shield, you feel invincible. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor. So long as you have it on, you’re protected.
Dear Lord. I want to be one of those who bring good news. I pledge to announce the Gospel of Peace to all who will hear. May it bring faith and hope wherever I wander. I too will be faithful. I choose to believe You have my best interest even in the deepest agony of battle. I will trust in you… Semper Fidelis!

This is your invitation to take one step forward every day in your relationship with Christ. We invite you to do something unbelievably radical. We invite you to deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow Jesus
Boy am I sore this morning. That’s what happens when you have a desk job, and then you try to work in the yard all day! Yesterday I seeded the amphitheater and fertilized it. I cut a bunch of fallen branches and filled my trailer. Then I mowed our lower lawn And did some weed eating. It doesn’t sound like much, but it was for me. I also stopped by the bookstore to do some research on some books that are similar to one I want to publish. This is going to take some work. After that I went to work out with Kyle and Marcia. When I got home the Grand kids were here. And we played a little bit. Then Ken came and picked them up. I put a picture of Phil on his new backhoe working on the Amphitheater stage at the blog at www.timewithgod.mypodcast.com.
This week’s theme verse is Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Put on the full armor of God. Over the next few days we will review each piece of your armor to capture the essence of how to put it on. With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. #1. Put on the “Belt Of Truth.” Imagine a thick black leather belt with the word “TRUTH” embossed on large silver buckle. You are a soldier of truth. You take the belt from the peg where it hangs. As you do, the word “TRUTH” catches a glint of sunshine, flashing a bright and blinding beam across the room. You solemnly buckle it around your waist with these words, “I choose truth! I pledge never to lie. I commit myself as a seeker of God’s Word so I can discern the difference between truth and error.” #2 Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness. Your armor is of the finest workmanship. It was forged in the fires of heaven, not by angels, but the Son of God himself drove the hammer to the anvil that fashioned its beautiful design. You pick it up and are surprised at how incredibly light it is, yet unlike any earthly metal, it is completely impervious to every attack. It is made to fit you perfectly. Engraved around the neckline is a single word “Righteousness.” As you pull the breastplate over your head, you whisper in wonder, “By faith, I choose Your righteousness. I yield my heart and soul to live by the old code of virtue and purity. I pledge to do my best to become just like Jesus… by faith.” As you lace the sides of your breastplate, you feel invincible. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor. So long as you have it on, you’re protected.
Dear Lord. I choose truth! I pledge never to lie. I commit myself as a seeker of God’s Word so I can discern the difference between truth and error. By faith, I choose Your righteousness. I yield my heart and soul to live by the old code of virtue and purity. I pledge to do my best to become just like Jesus… by faith.
