Today is May 8, this is time with God, I’m Pastor Dennis - I’ve been waiting here for you. Welcome to our life transforming community. We are doing something of eternal significance. We are redeeming the time. That is one of the basic premises of TWG. We believe that what we do every day is so important that we must do the important things each day. That is why we read the word every Day
Happy Birthday Chris! Chris is one of our TWG subscribers! Yesterday was busy and productive. I posted a new radio podcast to the internet and got Discovery Class III done. Rochelle, Marcia and Susan stopped in for several hours to clean the upstairs storage room and plan VBS! Thanks ladies it looks great. I turned the water on down at the amphitheater at noon. A few paramedics showed up in the front parking lot soon after that! Fortunately they were just there to perform CPR on our fire hydrant! Evie called at 3 PM to ask me “did I still have the water on down at the Amphitheater?” Forgetfulness is bad! I quickly ran down to turn it off. Then after work Susan and I went to our Growth Group Pot Luck. We had a great time, and the food was good. Jeannie said that now that she has high speed internet she has begun listening to TWG! Welcome. I put a picture of Samantha, who came with grandma Cathy and Grandpa Wayne to our potluck on the blog at www.timewithgod.mypodcast.com. It is a cute picture of her!
This week’s theme verse is Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Put on the full armor of God. We are doing a review of each piece of your armor to capture the essence of how to put it on. With the armor you can stand firm against the onslaught of life’s circumstances and the enemy’s attacks. It will make you a stable and powerful warrior. #5. You pick up the Helmet to put it on. This is one thing you don’t ever want to forget. The outer shell is made of the strongest Iron to withstand a killing blow, but the inside is padded softly with leather for a good fit. Before you put it on, you admire its sturdy craftsmanship. Behind the head is a metal bill to protect the neck and it has two hinged side pieces to guard the cheeks. On the top is a beautiful flowing decorative red plume. Emblazoned on the front are these words, “Deus Salus” or God Save! You proudly put it on. Wearing the legionnaires plume in public is a matter of status and pride, but it is more than that, with it you are well protected for life and eternity. Without realizing it you mouth the implications out loud, “This helmet will save my life many times over. I place it on my head and trust Your salvation to give me boldness in life and in death. I have complete confidence in God my savior. My salvation is settled in heaven.” As you put your helmet on, you feel invincible. There is not a weapon formed or a temptation that can pierce your armor. So long as you have it on, you’re protected.
Dear Lord. I trust Your salvation to give me boldness in life and in death. I have complete confidence in You to save me. My salvation is settled in heaven. What orders do you have for me today? I am at your service. I pray that I may be faithful in carrying out Your every commands and pledge myself to love Your Kingdom and my brothers in the Lord. Thank you for being my Lord.
