Today is Wednesday. Yesterday was an interesting day. To begin with my internet connection struggled all morning, just as it is today (pray for that). Then I dressed in my grubbies and ran to work to work on our Easter Service called “The Passion Reloaded” an audio / visual presentation of Passion Plays past. At about 10:30 the concrete truck showed up, and I went out to help Carl and Bill and the other Carl pour the walkway to the west entrance of the new building. I also had enough to add three stairs to the creek. It looks great! And we had a fun time joking with the driver. After that Sonja, Carl, Marcia, Helen, Jim and I went to a CE meeting where we discussed everything from Sunday School to Awana. Finally it was back to my office where I spent the rest of the day working on Easter Services. After dinner, I ran back to church for “12” our men’s meeting. Rich, Carl, Gregg, Ken, Dave and I were there. Wow, that is really turning out to be a great meeting.
This week’s theme verse. Matthew 5:8-11 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the peacemakers. I do love peace and quiet. I do not enjoy conflict. I make it one of my focuses to attempt to find a way to communicate bad news in a good way. It isn’t easy, but I’m driven to it. I’m not always successful, in fact some times I get into a mood and I react without thinking and create conflict. I admire people who can craft their words diplomatically. There is a small percentage of people in this world who think “outside the box” and are able to come at problems in a way I’ve never thought of. Peacemakers. When we think of peacemakers, we are thinking of people who step up and intercede between two warring parties to bring about resolution and peace. But there is a higher calling for Christians to make peace. We not only need to make peace in families, between brothers and man to man, but we have the mandate to step up and encourage peace between God and man. And in fact that’s where real peace begins… when I’m at peace with God. If I have Peace with God that means we have reconciled our differences – and in our case that means we have decided to things God’s way, trusting Christ as Lord and Savior. But there is more. I need the Peace of God… that means that I am in daily fellowship with God and his peace rules in my heart. It means that I realize He is in control, so I don’t need to worry. It means that I am submitting myself to Him so that my life is stable and not topsy-turvy. All other peace in this world stems from Peace with, and the peace of God. Get that and it well soon permeate all other relationships bringing a peace that passes all understanding.
Dear Lord, I submit my life to you. I choose you as my Lord and Savior. I make my peace with my God. Now Lord, grant me your peace in my heart that thought the world is turning upside down, that I may be serene, and though all those around me may despair, that I will be at peace. Another thing Lord, grant that I may be at peace with my loved ones, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Give me the insight and the desire to be a peacemaker. Help me to bring peace on earth and good will to men through the Savior Jesus Christ.
