Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, faith looks up." Unknown

Hear my cause, O LORD, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips. You have tested my heart; You have tried me day and night; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. I have kept away from the paths of evil men. Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip. I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous loving kindness. You save those who trust in You. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings, From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me. As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And listen to my cry. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and full of mercy and truth. Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me!

Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. You know all our iniquities, Our secret sins are not hidden from you. The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet they are filled with labor and sorrow; For we are soon cut off, and we fly away. So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. Return, O LORD! And have compassion on Your servants. Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! Give us as many happy days as we have had days of sorrow. May we, Your servants see your works, And Your glory. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands

I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You. Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; In You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. You show loving kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers and their children after them—the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the LORD of hosts. You are great in counsel and mighty in work, for your eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings. You have made Yourself a name, as it is this day. but we have not obeyed Your voice or walked in Your ways. We have not done all that You commanded us to Forgive us we pray.

We are to be shut out from men, and shut in with God.
Andrew Murray

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. Yes, we all have transgressed Your law, and have not to obeyed Your voice; therefore the curse has been poured out on us, because we have sinned against You. And You have confirmed His words, which You spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us great disaster. All this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth. And now, O Lord our God, we have sinned, we have done wickedly! O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your people, for we are a reproach to all those around us. Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on us. O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, and for Your people are called by Your name."

" O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our fathers and all the people of the land. O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day—because of the unfaithfulness which we have committed against You. O Lord, to us belongs shame of face because we have sinned against You. To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness.

"Ah, LORD, I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice. For You cast me into the deep And the floods surrounded me. 4 Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’ For You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God. When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple. I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy. Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; Lord we pray that you will send out laborers into His harvest. And help us to Love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, and we pray for those who spitefully use us. If you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. We believe and do not doubt in, so we know the things we ask will be done, and we will have our requests.

Ezra 10:18-44; Psalm 129; John 7:25-52

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the travelers map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword, and the Christians character. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand object, our good is its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is given you in life and will be opened in the judgment and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
